The contrasting movements of this piece by Henry Purcell make it dramatic and captivating. The structure is a basic ABAB with each movement providing commentary on the previous movement. Purcell's use of light and dark in the contrasting movements make this work especially appealing. Purcell's Sonata In 4 Parts No. 9 is an excellent work from a Baroque master.
