This highly versatile work features a high amount of interchange between fast and slow sections. This is present throughout all three movements. The piano varies from sweet and flowing to agitated and speedy, with the orchestra following suit. The winds take a particularly prominent role in certain sections of Tchaikovsky's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra.
