Mendelssohn's incidental music to Shakespeare's famous play "A Midsummer Night's Dream was started near the start of his career in 1826, and was not completed until 1842, five years before his death. A large orchestra is featured in this work. In the Overture and Scherzo, rapidly moving strings and winds imitate the beating wings of mythical creatures. The final Wedding March is still used in most modern-day weddings.
